Job Description

As a Senior Cyber Security Operations Engineer I at Careem, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding our infrastructure and operations. This role is ideal for professionals seeking cybersecurity jobs with hands-on experience in a dynamic Security Operations Center (SOC).

Key Responsibilities

• Validate and analyze investigations within the SOC, focusing on events and alerts across AWS Cloud Infrastructure, SaaS applications, and on-premises systems.
• Perform expert analysis of Cloudtrail, CloudWatch, and VPC Flow logs for incident and event analysis.
• Guide and support automated security alerts and use cases in AWS cloud environments.
• Triage incoming issues, assessing priority and determining risks, damages, or routing for security/privacy data requests.
• Proactively identify vulnerabilities across infrastructure and recommend updates to SIEM use cases for enhanced alerting.
• Participate in ‘On Call’ availability for critical incident response or urgent threat scenarios.
• Provide communication and escalation per SOC guidelines during incidents.
• Manage intelligence sources to deliver a holistic view of the threat landscape, filtering noise for actionable intelligence.
• Ensure all security events and incidents are logged in Jira, updated, and closed within SLAs.
• Lead the development of actionable use cases to detect, triage, investigate, and remediate threats, supporting technical implementation to reduce false positives.

Requirements

• Minimum 3+ years of experience in security operations, threat intelligence, insider threat operations, or related cybersecurity functions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field (experience in financial services preferred).
• Strong knowledge of security methodologies and frameworks, including Intelligence Driven Defense, Cyber Kill Chain, and MITRE ATT&CK.
• Experience in a 24×7 enterprise operational environment with cloud architecture (AWS services) and networking principles.
• Proficiency in web protocols, common attacks, and Linux/Unix tools and architecture.
• Background in SOC, penetration testing, purple team, threat intelligence, or threat hunting (or equivalent self-study experience).
• Skills in system administration, patch management, zone security, firewall, and IAM.
• Proven success in SOC functions, including metrics, reporting, and SLA maintenance.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to resolve complex problems with minimal supervision.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
• Highly motivated, self-starter capable of prioritizing and multitasking.
